Walking the Old Ways of the Black Mountains & East Breconshire
£12.95
The walks in this book have been chosen with the aim of discovering the history of the Black Mountains and eastern Breconshire. Each walk passes or visits places and features. These include churches, chapels, castles and castle sites, neolithic chambered tombs, standing stones, Iron Age hillforts, Roman camps, forts and roads, Medieval houses, inns, mills, canals, old railways, reservoirs and even a 19th-century rabbit farming enterprise. Several of the sites can only be reached on foot. The walks have been chosen to explore a range of countryside. Some walks follow river valleys, canals, old tramroads or railways for part of their route, whilst others clamber to the tops of hills to view prehistoric and castle sites, but many more wander through and across the rolling hills.
