The fourth novel in the No.1 bestselling Canon Clement series
THE NO. 1 SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING SERIES
‘The best of the new cosy crime writers’ Daily Telegraph
In the spring of 1990, we return to Champton, where the characters we’ve come to love are all aflutter as a glamorous Hollywood movie takes over Champton House as its set location.
As the actors and extras hired from the village don their farthingales, gowns and crowns for a masque set in the 1600s, a murder interrupts filming on set – and it’s an ingenious one . . .
Can Daniel solve the mystery with help from his sidekick Detective Sergeant Neil Vanloo – even when things are so sticky between them?
‘You’ll want to take a front row pew in Champton while this delicious series unfolds’ Janice Hallet
BESTSELLING SERIES: The Canon Clement Mystery books have all been Sunday Times No.1 bestsellers; collectively, they have sold hundreds of thousands of copies across physical, audio and ebook, and garnered critical acclaim from the likes of the Guardian, to the Telegraph, to Dawn French and Ian Rankin. Having another book in the series is enormously exciting and a huge commercial opportunity for W&N.
ONE-OF-A-KIND, BELOVED AUTHOR: Richard Coles is well-loved and hugely popular; he has over half a million Twitter followers and presents shows on BBC Radio 4 as well as on TV shows such as Have I Got News for You and QI. His profile remains high and he is a gift for PR, as well as a repeat author for us who will likely continue to write for many years.
LOVABLE CHARACTERS: Many of the characters which made Murder Before Evensong and A Death in the Parish instant hits are back: Daniel himself, his mother Audrey, the inhabitants of Champton and – of course – Cosmo and Hilda, Daniel’s beloved dachshunds.
